Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Papertzian) - Marl described in 1863, in a low meadow, apparently on the site of an old lake. Known at the time to cover 3 or 4 acres, but supposed to be much more extensive. 3.5 ft thick and covered by 4 ft of peat. The marl contains well-preserved tree branches and trunks, but these are not found in the peat.
