Fenite 2 Aegirine-Potassic Feldspar Host
Gneiss-Unsubdivided 3 Syenite Contains

Lithology Comments

May 20, 2009 (A Wilson) - The description of the rock type identifies the rock as carbonatite containing fenite fragments. A 166 ft drill hole put down near the northwestern margins of the complex intersected unmineralized biotite granite of the Powassan batholith containing a few lamprophyre dikes. The Callander Complex contains minor concentrations of Nb in carbonatite and hematized and carbonatized nepheline syenite. Quartz fenite and aegirine-potassic feldspar fenite underlie most of Darling and McPherson Islands. The fenites contain numerous carbonate veins and are locally intensely brecciated and hematized.

Mineralization Comments

May 20, 2009 (A Wilson) - Up to 0.05% Nb2O5 was returned from grab samples of carbonatite collected by Beaucage Mines Limited. The exposures of rock on the island are slightly radioactive (up to 10 times background).
