Sep 04, 2024 (Sheree Hinz) - The granitic gneiss consists of quartz, potassium feldspar, biotite, plagioclase, hornblende, garnet (>1%), chlorite, limonite, and zircon. It is a fine-grained, anhedral, strongly foliated gneiss. There are discontinuous bands with a few medium-grained potassium feldspar and quartz grains. The quartz grains are strained and elongated while the potassium feldspar has either a micro-perthtic texture or tartan twinning. Chlorite occurs as an alteration product of biotite in minor amounts.
