Location Method: Data Compilation

Access Description: Proceed on a good gravel road for 3 kilometers from the hamlet of Hotham. At this point the road deteriorates to a tractor trail. Proceed for l kilometer to the local height of land and you should find the pit 10 metres east of the trail on a north-facing slope.

Pre 1942: pitting and extraction of about 5 tons of material

Jan 25, 2011 (A Wilson) - A pit has been sunk in pink, biotite granite gneiss cut by a 1 foot wide diabase dike. The dike trends N77W and dips 88° N.

Mineralization Comments

Mar 11, 2013 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by the OGS from the gneiss assayed 106 ppm Cu, 6 ppm Pb, 35 ppm Zn and 5 ppb Au. A grab sample collected from the diabase dike assayed 119 ppm Cu, 6 ppm Pb, 66 ppm Zn and 10 ppb Au. A grab sample collected by the ODM in 1942 returned a trace of gold.
