Lithology Comments

Mar 12, 2013 (A Wilson) - The occurrence is described as hematite-enriched, silicified, brecciated granitic rocks of the Powassan batholith exposed in the Nipissing Fault at the base of a talus slope. In 1941 a partially caved in timbered pit was observed at the base of the talus.

Mineralization Comments

May 22, 2009 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by Satterly assayed 55.65% Fe, 18.73 SiO2. Diamond drilling intersected 1 and 3 foot sections assaying 41.26 and 34.62% Fe respectively. The hematite is described as hard, fine-grained grey and brown hematite containing disseminated glassy quartz. The hematite is often specular in nature.
