Lithology Comments

Aug 10, 2012 (A Wilson) - Two north-northeast trending zones of magnetite-quartz and amphibole-quartz iron formation form the prospect. The iron formations are interbedded with biotite, muscovite and garnet schists, granitic gneisses and marbles. The Opimika Creek zone is hook shaped with a tapering and longer western limb. It is exposed over a horizontal length of approximately 7200 feet and averages 400 feet in width. The Bishop Zone is similar in shape but smaller. It has a strike length of approximately 2500 ft and is composed of two parallel bands separated by 200 feet of barren schist. The metasediments strike approximately N 35° E and dip to the west at angles of 20° to 75° - The average angle of dip is approximately 40°. The iron formation is very fine-grained, and consists of alternating bands of chert, magnetite, and green amphibole. Some magnetite is disseminated throughout the chert and amphibole bands. The weathered surfaces are black if chert bands are absent, or exhibit alternating bands of black and white. Fresh surfaces exhibit alternating white, black, and green bands.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 10, 2012 (A Wilson) - An east-west section across the north part of the Opimika Creek zone is estimated to contain approximately 70% iron formation with the content of soluble iron in iron formation sections mainly in the 10-20% range. No analytical results are reported for the Bishop Zone.
