Lithology Comments

Nov 03, 2017 (A Wilson) - Nipissing diabase sheet is intrusive into Lorrain quartzite. 8 inch northwest trending vein occurs in fault in the diabase. About 50 feet east of Friday Creek, near the middle of the portage, a pit is sunk on the diabase near the contact with quartzite.

Mineralization Comments

Nov 03, 2017 (A Wilson) - Striking at N 40° W, a vein occurs in a fault, the north wall of which shows horizontal scratches. The vein filling is eight inches in width, consisting of quartz with calcite in irregular masses; and associated mostly with the quartz, there are massive blotches of chalcopyrite and pyrite. A sample across a vein carries 0.5 oz./t Ag. A 20 cm quartz-calcite vein in Nipissing Diabase returned 17g/t Ag.
