Exploration History

1971-1972: Vangulf Exploration Co. carried out a ground geophysical survey (magnetometer, electromagnetic, IP), diamond drilling. 1973: St. Joseph Exploration Ltd. carried out a ground geophysical survey (magnetometer). 1994: Falconbridge Exploration Ltd. carried out open cutting and bedrock mapping. 1995: Falconbridge Exploration Ltd. carried out a ground geophysical survey (magnetometer, electromagnetic). 2008: The Legends of Cobalt carried out an airborne geophysical survey (magnetometer, electromagnetic).

Lithology Comments

Oct 30, 2020 (Sheree Hinz) - Pillow basalt are cut by SSW Keweenawan diabase dike 200 ft wide. Quartz-calcite veins occur within mafic rocks.

Mineralization Comments

Oct 30, 2020 (Sheree Hinz) - Quartz-calcite veins contain sulfide mineralization. Semi-massive to massive pyrite occurs in the dump beside the old shaft, with associated chert and interpillow mineralized mafic volcanics. Pillowed mafic volcanics on both sides of the chert horizon contain 1-5% pyrite and pyrrhotite stringers.
