Lithology Comments

Jan 30, 2015 (A Wilson) - The vein on which the shaft was put down strikes N.85° W.,and dips southerly. It went out of the shaft at a depth of 30 feet. A small open cut may be seen near the shaft. The silver ore (in part high grade) and cobalt mineralization presumably did not persist below the 60-foot level. It is not clear if the vein structure persisted through the Nipissing diabase, which was found to extend to a depth of 480 feet below the shaft collar. Exploration in the diabase near the bottom contact and the underlying Cobalt Series conglomerate (about 50 to 90 feet thick) was not rewarding.
