Jul 19, 2010 (A Wilson) - The quarry was developed in a sequence of alternating dolostones of the Thorneloe Fm and limestone. At this location, the rock is dark grey in colour and contains both nodular chert (10%) and numerous sporadic mud seams. The rock is described as nodular calcarenite within a fine-grained carbonate matrix.

Jul 19, 2010 (A Wilson) - Analytical results from the drill holes showed that the CaO and MgO values were relatively good, but the silica content was high (average 8.6%). The intent of the exploration program was to investigate the limestone for potential for the development of lime for the local gold mines.
