Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Jensen 1982, 1978, 1973; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989) indicates that bedrock in the area consists mainly of weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group which strike northeast, dip steeply south, and face south. Bedrock near the occurrence occupies part of the north limb of the east striking and east plunging Blake River Synclinorium (Jensen and Langford 1985). Glacial deposits mantle most bedrock in the area (Baker et al. 1982; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988).

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - The No.1 vein is reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to strike 150, to dip south 30 degrees, and to be hosted by unaltered diorite (possibly coarse grained basalt). This vein was trenched for 400 feet by Cortez Explorations. Quartz-carbonate stringers and irregularly developed lenses are reported (assessment files) to be variably pyritic and to contain erratic gold tenors ranging from trace to 0.01 ounce of gold per ton. A small vein dipping south and striking 065 averaged 0.02 ounce of gold per ton over 2 feet. A separate quartz-(carbonate?) vein is reported (assessment files) to be 6-8 feet wide, to strike 035, to dip vertically, and to be hosted by sheared volcanic rock. No assays greater than 0.01 ounce of gold per ton were reported from this vein.
