Access Description: Access to the Upper Beaver shaft is via a gravel raod to the northeast from the hamlet of Dobie. The drill holes are located 450 m north of the Upper Beaver shaft.



Exploration History

1912-19 - Surface exploration 1919-1930 - Production as Argonaut Mines. 1937-39 - Underground exploration by Toburn. 1950-51 - Surface geology and geophysics and diamond drilling by Toburn. 1961-62 - Surface exploration, shaft dewatering, underground drilling and development by Augustus Explorations Ltd. 1964-1972 - Mine dewatering, underground diamond drilling and production by Upper Beaver Mines Limited. Mine closed in 1972 before the property was fully explored. 1988-1991 - Surface geology, geophysics and diamond drilling by Royal Oak Mines Inc. (formerly Pamorex).

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Guidon) - Zone is defined by a few drill hole in the syenite intrusion north of the Upper Beaver shaft. It appears on the Queenston map to have a strike of about 030.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (D Guidon) - Gold is found in quartz veins, quartz-carbonate-sericite schists and quartz prophyritic syenite within the syenite body. Further down-hole gold was also found within pillowed mafic volcanic rocks near the contact with the syenite.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 22, 2023 (Q Unknown) - Diamond drill hole BL90-5 intersected 2 zone. The upper zone assayed 1.69 ounce Au per ton over 9.3 feet and the lower zone assayed 0.286 ounce per ton Au over 13.0 feet. Diamond drill hole BL90-2 intersected 2 zones as well; 0.377 ounce Au per ton over 24.0 feet in the Upper Zone and 1.42 ounce Au per ton over 21.2 feet in the Lower Zone.
