Exploration History

1989: Sudbury Contact Mines Limited completed overburden drilling. RC hole FL-89-2 intersected a kimberlite dike. Hole FL-89-4 intersected kimberlite dike. 1990: Diamond drilling. Diamond drill hole FL-90-5 intersected kimberlite (Diamond Lake-1). 1991: Sudbury Contact Mines Limited completed: ground magnetic and electromagnetic surveys, 11 diamond drill holes totalling 2220 m, airborne mag and EM 1992: 26 diamond drill holes totalling 3817 m, ground mag, EM and gravity surveys, geological mapping 1994: IP and resistivity surveys.

Lithology Comments

Dec 17, 2015 (D Guidon) - from Sage (1996) The pipe is estimated to be 100 m long and is north-trending. The pipe is along the eastern flank of a north-trending diabase dike. The kimberlite is hosted in wake, arkose, tuff anddiabase. The kimberlite diatreme facies consists of 15-25% xenoliths. The rock has been describe as fine to coarse breccia with pelletal textured kimberite matrix.
