Exploration History

1920- 1950: Pits and trenches explored quartz veins and pyritic gossan. 1960: Southwest Potash Corporation mapped geologically in the area. 1972: Magusi River Explorations Inc. acquired claims from J.C. Honsberger, completed magnetic and electromagnetic surveys, and prospected. This was followed by HL electromagnetic and soil geochemical surveys and 3 diamond drill holes totalling 1,025 feet. 1973: The property was optioned to New Goldview Mines Ltd. and Xtra Developments Inc. (The Northern Miner, April 10, 1973) and diamond drilled (Canadian Mines Handbook 1975-76). 1974: New Goldview and Xtra Developments dropped the option (Canadian Mines Handbook 1976-1977). 1976: Wolverine Developments Ltd. was formed from the amalgamation of several companies, including Magusi River Explorations. Wolverine Developments acquired the 24 claim Dokis Township property (Canadian Mines Handbook 1977). 1978: Lumsden Building Corp. Inc. formed from the amalgamation of several companies, including Wolverine Developments, and presumably acquired the Dokis claims (Canadian Mines Handbook 1979-1980).

Geology

Province: Superior

Subprovince: Abitibi

Terrane: Wawa-Abitibi

Belt: Abitibi

Geological Age: Archean

Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - A largely glacial deposit covered circular granodiorite stock about 800 m in diameter intrudes weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Blake River Group in the centre of the claim group (Jensen 1982, 1978; Jensen and Langford 1985; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Baker et al. 1982; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988). Rhyolite flow breccia occurs west of the granodiorite while pillowed andesite and/or dacite occurs to the south, southwest, and northeast. In the east part of the claim group, quartz diorite and gabbro intrusive bodies are present. Abundant anomalous pyrite and pyrrhotite mineralization is reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to occur marginal to the granodiorite plug in rhyolite. A fault striking 060 extends through the claim group and has been traced for at least 1,800 m (Jensen 1978).
