Exploration History

1919: Knight et al. reported that on the Taylor-Horne claim (patented claim no. 7261), a narrow (4-8 inch wide) 082º striking and south 75º dipping quartz vein is hosted by altered basalt and contains pyrite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, and visible gold. 1925: Knight (1925) reported that the shear hosted quartz vein on the Taylor-Horne claim represents the eastern strike extension of the Meridian vein, which occurs in Harker Township on patented claim no. 7247. 1981: The claim was mapped geologically by Phelps Dodge Corp. of Canada as part of exploration concentrated on claims in Harker and Holloway Townships.1984: Discovery-Lenora Joint Venture - ground magnetic survey.

Mineralization Comments

Jul 28, 2016 (A Wilson) - A grab sample collected by C.W. Knight in 1924 assayed $9.60 Au. A grab sample collected by J. Satterly at the East Meridian Property in 1949, assayed 0.25 oz/t Au and 0.80 oz/t Ag. The sample came from a mineralized quartz vein. Diamond drilling on the Meridian Vein returned assays ranging from $ 0.17 over 3 ft 9 inches to $32.90 over 6 inches. A shipment of 1820 lb. of ore from the Meridian claim (ore collected by Lightning River Gold Mines Ltd.) yielded $14.00 Au and 4.6 oz. Ag. A series of 18 samples of ore collected in 1933 returned assays ranging from 0.005 oz/t Au to 0.79 oz/t Au. A selected grab(?) sample is reported by these authors to have averaged 0.21 ounce of gold per ton.
