Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - A carbonate shear is reported to be developed in largely glacial drift covered (Baker et al. 1982; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) east striking, steeply dipping, and south facing weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) subaqueously deposited volcanic rocks of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group (Jensen 1982, 1978; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake). The shear is reported to strike 080, to dip vertically, to be 600 m long, and to average 1.5 m in width. Assays of 1.46% of copper, and 0.03 ounce of gold per ton were obtained by Jensen (1978) from vein samples collected by him. Syenite dikes oriented parallel to the shear are reported to contain disseminated pyrite and to occur north and south of the shear.
