Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - A largely glacial drift covered (Vagners and Courtney 1985; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) east striking schistose zone of silicified, carbonatized, and brecciated metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) tuff and/or sediment within the Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone (Jensen 1982, Jensen and Baker 1986, Johnstone and Steele 1989; Troop 1989) is reported (assessment files, Resident Geologist's Office, Kirkland Lake) to contain pyrite and arsenopyrite. Fuchsite may be developed locally and graphitic horizons are noted. Feldspar phyric dikes of unspecified orientation were also intersected.
