Access Description: Point Located: A point 1.51 km south and 2.58 km west of the northeast corner of Marriott Township.
1972: E. Chorzepa (of Kirkland Lake) overburden stripped. 1984: H.E. Neal (of Toronto) acquired claims in the area. H.E. Neal and Associates Ltd. completed a geological survey. 1985: H.E. Neal and Associates completed magnetic and VLF electromagnetic surveys and began a lithogeochemical survey for Dickenson Mines Ltd. and New Cinch Uranium Mines Ltd. of ground held by H.E. Neal. 1986: H.E. Neal and Associates completed geological mapping and completed a lithogeochemical survey. One sample of carbonatized basalt is reported to have averaged 885 ppb of gold. A.W. Hennessey completed magnetic and electromagnetic surveys of ground which would eventually be controlled by H.E. Neal. 1988: H.E. Neal and Associates diamond drilled 9 holes totalling about 4,000 feet (R. Risto, geologist, H.E. Neal and Associates Ltd., pers. comm., April, 1988).
Province: Superior
Geological Age: Archean
Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist
Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Geological mapping (Jensen 1982, 1978, 1973; Jensen and Baker 1986; Johnstone and Steele 1989; Baker et al. 1982; Vagners and Courtney 1985; McClenaghan et al. 1988, 1987; Steele 1988) indicates that bedrock underlying the Neal property consists mainly of east northeast striking, steeply dipping, and south facing weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) tholeiitic volcanic and volumetrically minor interflow sedimentary rocks of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group. Most of the claim group is south of the interpreted trace of the east striking Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone (PDFZ) and occupies part of the north limb of the east striking and east plunging Blake River Synclinorium. The northern part of the property is underlain by rocks within and/or immediately south of the lithologically and structurally complex PDFZ. The east northeast strike of the Archean supracrustal basement underlying the property is well illustrated by recent geophysical surveys (OGS 1984, assessment files, Resident Geologist's files, Kirkland Lake). Jensen (1982, 1978) indicates that northwest striking faults of limited strike length across which minimal amounts of apparent horizontal offset has taken place also occur in central Marriott Township.

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - H.E. Neal and Associates completed a lithogeochemical survey of the 93 Neal claims during 1985-1986. About 400 bedrock chip samples were analyzed for gold and 20-25 additional elements (including major oxides and carbonate); this data is filed as assessment work at the Kirkland Lake Resident Geologist's Office. One bedrock sample of carbonatized tholeiitic basalt averaged 885 ppb of gold. The 1988 diamond drilling by H.E. Neal and Associates intersected massive and pillowed dark green magnetic Fe- tholeiitic volcanic rocks and volumetrically minor interflow material. Part of this drilling was targeted on a prominent (stratigraphic) magnetic trend (low magnetic values) which can be traced across the entire property (a distance of nearly 6 kilometres) and, with the aid of regional scale magnetic survey data (such as OGS 1984), can be shown to be magnetically continuous along at least 20 km of strike length, passing through the Iris Gold Mines Ltd. property in southeast Harker Township. Trenching by E. Chorzepa in 1972 exposed pyritic and cherty interflow material near the axis of this magnetic anomaly on the Neal claims and diamond drilling by H.E. Neal and Associates along its axis in 1988 intersected dark green nonmagnetic and hard volcanic rocks which visually appear to be basaltic but which have been classified as rhyolitic on the basis of geochemistry (R. Risto, geologist, H.E. Neal and Associates Ltd., pers. comm., April 22, 1988).
