Exploration History

1949: Lobanor Gold Mines Ltd. diamond drilled in the area. Of this drilling, 2 holes totalling 1,847 feet were spotted on ground which would become part of the Argentex Resource Exploration claims. 1960-1961: Revere Mining Corp. Ltd. completed magnetic and resistivity electromagnetic surveys and diamond drilled at least 12 holes totalling at least 5,966 feet . 1981: Canadian Nickel Co. Ltd. .completed magnetic and electromagnetic surveys over them. 1984: The R.J. Kasner Co. Ltd. optioned 50 contiguous claims from Canadian Nickel Co. Argentex Resource Exploration Corp. commissioned an appraisal of the Kasner/Canadian Nickel Co. claims to be made and, on the basis of this, acquired the Kasner interest in the Canadian Nickel Co. property. Argentex Resource Exploration completed magnetic, VLF, and HL electromagnetic surveys, a geological survey, a geochemical (humus) survey, 26 reverse circulation drill holes, and collected basal till samples via backhoe. Argentex Resource Exploration also diamond drilled 11 holes totalling 4,337 feet.1985: Argentex Resource Exploration diamond drilled 2 deep holes (and wedged holes off one of these) totalling 6,740.5 feet which were designed to intersect on Argentex Resource Exploration ground the down dip extension of the Mattawasaga deposit (at the time held by Canamax Resources Inc). 1986: Canadian Nickel Co. and Argentex Resource Exploration continued to diamond drill. 1989: AXR Resources merged with other R.J. Kasner Group companies to form Greater Lenora Resources Corp.

Belt: Abitibi

Geological Age: Archean

Metamorphism Grade: Greenschist

Geology Comments

Aug 02, 2016 (C Salo) - Geological mapping iindicates that most bedrock in the area consists of largely glacial drift covered weakly metamorphosed (greenschist or lower metamorphic facies) tholeiitic basalt and volumetrically minor interflow tuffaceous and/or clastic sediment of the (Archean) Kinojevis Group. Bedrock stratigraphy strikes east northeast, dips steeply south, and faces south. Bedrock in the southern part of the property is south of the east striking Porcupine-Destor Fault Zone (PDFZ) and occupies part of the north limb of the east striking and east plunging Blake River Synclinorium. The northern part of the property is largely glacial drift covered and bedrock is marginal to or within the PDFZ, the extent of which is poorly understood due to lack of bedrock exposure. The PDFZ in the Harker-Holloway Township area is structurally and lithologically complex, consisting of juxtaposed fault and/or shear bounded blocks. Metamorphosed and variably altered ultramafic to felsic volcanic rocks, tuffaceous rocks, clastic and chemical sedimentary rocks, and (usually felsic) intrusive rocks are all characteristic of the PDFZ.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (C Salo) - Dia.drilling in the NE part of the Canadian Nickel Co./Argentex claims in 1984 is rpted. to have inters. Graphitic, sericitic fg interflow sed. between footwall (northern) silicified Mg-tholeiitic basalt and hanging wall (southern) Fe-tholeiitic basalt. The best Au assay rpted. from this interflow mater. is from a 4.7' long core section which aver. 0.055 oz Au/ton. Dia.drilling in the western part of the claim group in 1984 is rpted. to have inter. a 4.2 foot core length of brecciated mafic flow mater. which aver. 0.01 oz Au/ton. Dia. drilling in the NW part of the claim group in 1985 was desig. to estab. whether the aurif. Mattawasaga deposit mineralized zones extend at depth onto the Canadian Nickel Co. /Argentex prop. The southernmost Mattawasaga aurif. zone (aver. 0.144 ounce of Au per ton along a core length of 20.2' where inters. by the Argentex drilling) was interp. to have been inters. at a down hole depth of 2,431'. The central Mattawasaga aurif. zone (aver. 0.056 oz Au/ton along a core length of 30.7' where inters. by the Argentex drilling) was interp. to have been inters. at a down hole depth of 2,482'. The southernmost Mattawasaga aurif. zone (aver. 0.039 oz Au/per ton along a core length of 67' where inters. by Argentex) was interp. to have been inters. at a down hole depth of 2,577'.Dia. drilling by both Revere Mining Corp. and Argentex in the eastern part of the claim group is rpted. to have encount. anom. Au tenors near or within the PDFZ in rxs desc. to be var. brecc. clastic or chemical sed., schists, or mafic volc. rxs. Minerals highlighted in the drill logs to be assoc. with anom. elevated Au conc. include var. developed qtz carb veins, vein tour, gf, pink fel, ep, ser, perv.(?) silicific., perv.(?) cb, chl, hem, py, cp. Deep dia.drilling in the western part of the claim group is interp. to have inters. at depth the down dip extens. of the aurif. Mattawasaga deposit. Here, Au is assoc. with py+cp.
