Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - The limestone at this quarry is not thick and is underlain by soft blue shales; it belongs to the Widder Formation of the Hamilton group of the M.iddle Devonian age. The Widder Formationin the area consists of calcareous shales with interbedded argillaceous,crinoial and nodular limestone. The unit is richly fossiliferous in brachiopods, bivales, cephalopods and trilobites.
