Lithology Comments

Feb 21, 2013 (A Wilson) - The lower part of the Bois Blanc Formation (the Springvale Sandstone Member) consists of greenish - grey, glauconitic, quartzose sandstone occasionally interbedded with chert, cherty dolomitic limestone and white to light brown, fossiliferous quartzose sandstone. The stone shows white bands composed of angular quartz grains with little or no cement, alternating with dirty brown irregular streaks in which the grains are more rounded and are cemented by a large amount of calcareous material.

Mineralization Comments

Feb 21, 2013 (A Wilson) - The sandstone was quarried near Springvale for building stone and used in local construction. DEMR noted that the product was suitable only for the local construction of farm buildings and foundations.
