Access Description: Located 7 km southwest of Erin, on the bank of Eramosa River in the Erin Township, Wellington County.



Exploration History

The quarry operated in the early 1930s for building stone known as Wellington Limestone and was used in the construction of the College of Pharmacy building (Now University of Toronto) on Gerrard Street. By mid 1930 the quarry was producing only crushed stone due to lack of thick beds, and was finally closed in 1940s.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - This overgrown quarry now exposes about 4 m of Guelph Dolomites, light brown, medium, irregularly bedded(40-60 cm), very fine crystalline. The rock is soft and porous and does not deteriorate with time.
