Dufferin Aggregates purchased Acton Quarry in November 2001. With 3.47 million tonnes annual production, this quarry is ranked 5th in Canada in 2001.TOWNSHIP: NOW PART OF CITY OF HALTON HILLS.

Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - The quarry exposes more than 40 m ofmassive, lenticular and thinner-bedded interlenticular strata of Amabel Formation underlain by a thin-bedded dolostone of Reynales Formation. the rocks are mostly medium to coarse crystalline, cream grey and richly fossiliferous. The bedrock surface is locally irregular and good reef flanks are evident in some parts of the quarry. The middle unit of Amabel contains calcite in vugs and sphalerite in lenses.
