Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (M Barua) - The quarry exposes 16 m of Middle Silurian Guelph Fm underlain by 3 m of Amabel Fm. The Amabel Fm (Eramosa Member) consists thin-bedded, coarse crystalline dark brown bituminous dolostone.Overlying this is 5.5 m of transitiona Eramosa-Gulph Fm dolostone which are grey-green, med-crystalline,massive, fossiliferous dolostones. Ovelying this is 2.5 m of pure white to buff coloured fine to med. crystalline, massive dolostone of Guelph Fm. Overburden is composed of 8-12 m coarse sand.
