Oct 05, 2010 (A Wilson) - The showing consists of wide alternating bands of hornblende gneiss and mica schist, both of which contain garnets. The garnetiferous bands can be traced from the shore for about 200 yards.

Oct 05, 2010 (A Wilson) - The garnets are pale red and average about pea size. They occur in zones but there are several rich bands 6-10 feet wide containing garnets up to 2 inches in size. The largest garnets are hosted within the mica schist. The garnet was deemed to have good abrasive qualities and easily mined and concentrated.
