Lithology

Lithology Data
Rock Type Rank Composition Texture Relationship
Vein 1 Quartz Host
Sandstone 2 Quartzite

Lithology Comments

Aug 10, 2009 (A Wilson) - The quartz veins form a sheeted series of pinching and swelling veinlets and veins from centrimetres to metres in width intruding the Mississagi Formation. These veins occur along a shear zone which is approximatley oriented at 080/90 and appears to be related to a splay of the Loon Lake fault. The Mississagi quartzites are pervasively albitized throughout the zone of the quartz veins. The veins are fine- to medium-grained and sugary textured with smokey grey to locally milky white coloration.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 10, 2009 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected by J. McAuley in 1995 returned an averaged SiO2 value of 99.86%. The two samples meet the specifications for silicon metal, however the TiO2 may be slightly high.
