Exploration History

1968-69: Richore Gold Mines Limited completed 4 diamond drill holes totaling 5,466 ft., stripping, trenching, sampling, mapping, and airborne geophysics. 1967-69: East Bay Gold Mines Ltd. /Monteagle Minerals Ltd. completed 8 diamond drill holes totaling 6,303 ft., sampling, and a radiometric survey. 1973-75: E. Rose carried out mapping, and a radiometric survey. 1976: Norcen Resources Ltd. completed mapping. 1977: Consolidated Morrison Exploration Ltd. completed 7 diamond drill holes totaling 4,709 ft. 1978: Consolidated Morrison Exploration Ltd. completed 1 diamond drill hole totaling 3,146 ft. 2008: Falcon Ventures Inc. carried out an airborne geophysical survey (Gradiometer, radiometric, VLFEM). 2011: Firebird Resources Inc. carried out mapping, prospecting, ground geophysics (scintillometer readings), assaying and analyses.

Lithology Comments

Oct 25, 2010 (A Wilson) - Radioactivity was detected in both overlying metasedimentary rocks as well as the underlying Birch Lake batholith. Three zones of radioactivity were detected in the batholith and in the vertical fracture zones in the granite. Elevated U and Th values also were recovered from granite cobbles in the conglomerate.

Mineralization Comments

Oct 25, 2010 (A Wilson) - Samples collected by Richore Gold Mines in 1969 returned values ranging between 0.08 and 0.12 lb/ton U3O8. Assays from East Bay Gold Mines drill hole 1 returned 0.43% U3O8 and 0.15% ThO2 over 1.5 feet. A 0.2 ft section of core from East Bay Gold Mines drill hole 3 returned 0.19% U3O8 and 1.00% ThO2

Sep 30, 2020 (Sheree Hinz) - Uranium and thorium mineralization, associated with radioactive potassium, has been identified on the Porter-Hyman Property (Abitibi Geophysics survey report, 2009). The minerals include monazite, uraninite, zircon and thorianite with minor pyrite and pyrrhotite. The mineralization is hosted in both oligomictic and polymictic conglomerates but is also encountered in fractures parallel to bedding with few pebbles present. The denser the pebbles are packed, the higher the uranium-thorium concentration.
