Access Description: The Fielding Property is located within the Greater City of Sudbury area, in the northeast area of Waters Township. The area is crosscut by two east to west trending main roads: the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 17) and highway 658. The property is located at the midway point of Fielding Industrial Road, 0.5 kilometer east of the road and just west of Kelly Lake. (GDIF144) (OFR 6109, p.1, 2)
1942: A pit, 4.5 metres square and 2.5 metres deep was blasted into the outcrop showing the highest scheelite content, prior to 1942. From about 101 tonnes of rock, 4 tonnes of material, estimated to average about 0.3% tungsten was cobbed, the highest grade specimens carrying perhaps 0.6% tungsten. A diamond drill hole was directed to intersect the main lens at depth, but in 36.6 metres of core only traces of scheelite were found. Another lens 6.0 metres by 18 metres occurs 45.5 metres southwest of the first lens. The grade was estimated to be 0.01 to 0.03 % tungsten, and a diamond drill hole, 30.5 metres long to intersect the lens gave disappointing results.
