Location Method: Conversion from MDI

Access Description: The Simpson Occurrence is located approximately 20 km west of Sudbury, in the central area of Denison Township. The area is crosscut by two east to west trending main roads: the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 17) and highway 658. The occurrence is located on the south side of the Old Highway 17, midway between Fairbank Creek and Vermillion River. (GDIF 66) (OFR 6109, p.1, 2)



Exploration History

1890: A sample of pyrite with siliceous gangue from the property, assayed by the GSC yielded 11.9 g/tonne (0.35 oz/ton) gold and no silver. Circa 1890: Unreported amount of exploration on a property referred to as Simpson Mine. (MDC018, p. 101)
