Access Description: From the intersection with regional road #3, travel north 1.9km on Lockerby Mine Road to the barricade. Continue on foot on the Lockerby Mine Road another 1.5km north-northeast. Site is located 1.3km east in the bush near the shore of Vermilion River.



Exploration History

1890: Henry Ranger – 3 m deep prospect pit. No development work recorded. 1988: B.P. Resources Canada Limited – airborne geophysics.

Geology Comments

Jun 21, 2016 (D Scholtz) - The area is underlain by Late Precambrian mafic volcanics bounded on the north by granitic intrusives, and on the south by pelitic sediments with gabbroic intrusives. All rocks belong to the Superior Structural Province. The showing consists of a quartz vein striking N60E degrees and dipping vertically, cutting Stobie Formation metavolcanics. The vein occurs in a grey dioritic rock and is mineralized with pyrite, chalcopyrite and graphite. The vein has an average width of 3.5 metres and carried a paying quantity of gold.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 21, 2016 (A Wilson) - The vein on the Vermilion River is on lot 1, con 3 of Denison Township. It strikes north 60 º east, and seems to be about perpendicular. It is a strongvein, 12 feet wide, consisting of white quartz with reddish tints in places. It carries a little iron pyrites, copper pyrites and plumbago, and is reported to have a paying quantity of gold.
