Access Description: The South Zone is accessed by traveling south from the intersection of Paris and Regent in Sudbury on Hwy.69 for 18.1 kilometers to Secord Road; turn right and travel this road 2.6 kilometers to Rintala Road. Travel along Rintala Road for 500 meters to the first road on the right, and travel 4.15kilometers, across a gated bridge and to the South Zone.

Lithology Comments

Feb 20, 2009 (A Wilson) - The orthoquartzite is coarse-grained and milky white to light pink in colour. Relict large scale bedding and occasional bed forms are preserved in the unit.

Mineralization Comments

Feb 20, 2009 (A Wilson) - The orthoquartzite averages between 90 and 95% pure. Composite samples of the orthoquartzite collected by Secord Silica in 1995 returned values up to 98.1% SiO2. Warren Industrial Feldspar estimated that there were 3.6 million tons of mineable high-grade silica at the location (1984).
