Lithology Comments

Feb 27, 2019 (Sheree Hinz) - The dike strikes westerly and dips southward about 20° and consists of alkalic feldspar forming crystals up to 3 feet across with intergrown quartz forming pods scattered throughout the dike. The open cut is up to 45 ft wide, about 30 feet long and has a 15-foot face. The occurrence consists of two quarry sites located 1 km apart. The pegmatite appears to be homogeneous over its whole area, consisting of medium to coarse grained microcline intergrown with about 30% translucent quartz and often graphic granite. The microcline and intergrown quartz are relatively coarse grained.
