1907: property purchased by Mond Nickel Company. Shaft sunk to 225 feet with levels at 100 and 200 feet. 1910: No. 1 shaft deepened to 600 feet. 1914: No. 1 shaft deepened to 870 feet. 1924: magnetic sorting plant installed. 1925: No. 1 shaft deepened to 1200 feet. A battery locomotive was added to the mine equipment for tramming on the eighth level, where the bulk of the production was being obtained. 1927: A ventilation and escape shaft, seven by 11 feet, inclined at 55 per cent, located 435 feet north of No. 1 shaft, was started in November. 1929: Merger of the Mond Nickel Company with the International Nickel Company (Inco). 1933-35: mine closed during the Depression. 1936: mine reopened in December. 1939: shaft 2 sunk to 407 feet. 1940: shaft 2 deepened to 2200 feet. 1942: last month of ore hoisting out of No.1 shaft was March. The plant was dismantled in the following month and used as an escape way and for ventilation purposes. 1958: 3 month strike, the first major strike in the Sudbury district. 1961: shaft 3 sunk. 1969: strike from July 10 to November 14. 1979: major rock burst occurred on May 8 in shaft 2. Production was curtailed in the following 7 months for repairs. 1981: Shaft 4 was completed. 1982: operations stopped in June due to a 1 month strike and a 9 month shut down. 1984: open pit started near shaft 1. 1986: underground operations of the mine were temporarily suspended. 1993: mine reopened. 2003: 3 month strike. 2006: CVRD purchased Inco. Surface ramp reopened. Production from 1928 onwards is reported in Copper Cliff No. 1 (MDI41I06NE00003).
