Lithology Comments

Sep 30, 2011 (A Wilson) - On the eastern shore of Spanish River is a narrow belt of thinly bedded and laminated siltstone and sandstone, massive blue-grey and pink fine-grained sandstone, and minor conglomerate. Some of the siltstone is calcareous. These sediments are thought to be a part of the Gowganda Formation. The magnetite is hosted within a narrow carbonate rich dike that is believed to be associated with the Spanish River Carbonatite.
