Lithology Comments

Aug 29, 2019 (Sheree Hinz) - The deposit is replacement-type containing zinc with minor copper, lead, cobalt, and nickel which occurs in brecciated, contact-metamorphosed rocks of the Espanola and Serpent Formations. This mineralization occurs as veins, disseminations, and massive lenses which are erratically distributed in a zone approximately 300 m in length near a Nipissing Diabase intrusion.

Mineralization Comments

Aug 29, 2019 (Sheree Hinz) - The mineralization consists of disseminations, veins and masses of iron-rich and iron-poor varieties of sphalerite, galena, pyrite, and chalcopyrite in recrystallized, silicified, dolomite and dolomitic breccia of the lower part of the Espanola Formation. These rocks rest directly on a rotated, sheared, and brecciated unconformity developed on Early Precambrian quartz monzonite. The country rocks are intruded by a Nipissing Diabase body exposed approximately 200 m to the east of the main sulphide occurrence. Drill intersections (3-4.5 foot sections) from 1955 contain 1.46% to 8.06% Zn, 0.11% to 1.30% Pb, 0.03% to 0.12% Cu. A Sample from a 5 foot vein contains 7.32% Ni, 16.9% Co, 3.3% Bi, 0.03% Cu, and 0.06 oz/ton Au.
