Access Description: 30.5 km from Hwy 17 N on Kukagami Lake road to northeast shore of Bowland Lake on south side of main road that is adjacent to a bay on Matagamasi Lake. Site is located on the peninsula where the public boat launch to Bowland Lake is.



Exploration History

1892-1908: Crystal Gold Mining Company - shaft developed to 100 ft, adit driven to 106 ft.; in production. 1925: Crystal-Comstock Gold Mines Limited - DD. 1944: Sylvanite Gold Mines - DD-2-378 m. 1963-70: Little AG Mines Limited - mapping, DD, ground geophysics. 1985: Flag Resources Ltd. - mapping, sampling, airborne geophysics

Lithology Comments

Mar 24, 2010 (A Wilson) - The property is underlain by greywackes of the Gowganda Fm intruded by Nipissing gabbro. Gold-bearing quartz veins are associated with a broad zone of soda, potassium, chlorite and carbonate alteration or with carbonate alteration within the gabbro. There were two east-trending quartz veins along which 5 shafts were sunk. The quartz veins occur at the contact between arkose and greywacke

Mineralization Comments

Mar 24, 2010 (A Wilson) - Free gold was recovered from the quartz veins. A 1996 lb sample of quartz collected in 1896 returned 9 ounces, 15 dwt, 9 grams of gold equal to a value of $191.44 a tone of ore.
