MINERALIZATION: ARCHEAN BANDED IRON FORMATION 214M BELOW NIP. DIAB. AND GOWGANDA FM. IN DDH. W.A. Carter (1958) - ground magnetometer survey and diamond drilling recommended. 1959: Thomson and Savage - geology and diamond drilling. 1959: geological, ground magnetometer and dip needle survey carried out at Crest Lake; DD-2-937.9 ft. 2008: Temagami Iron Corporation - magnetometer survey; Scholes- ground magnetometer survey. Mineralization: Archean banded iron formation 214m below Nipissing. diabase. and Gowganda Formation. in DDH. Rio Tinto Canadian Exploration sank a shaft and carried out bulk sampling and a feasibility study which suggested that the deposit was economic. They determined reserves of 108 million long tons grading 29.7 percent soluble iron to a depth of 1750 feet. Later Eagle Rock Iron Mines was formed and determined a reserve of 328 million long tons grading 27.2 percent soluble iron.

Dec 01, 2017 (A Wilson) - ERIM had a new reserve estimate prepared by Ringsleben & Burns (1966) which indicated a possible resource of 188,353,000 long tons grading 26.7percent iron plus inferred resources of 139,514,000 long tons grading 27.24 percent iron to the 2,500 foot (760 m) level. These resources were over a strike length of 5,550 feet (1700 m).
