Exploration History

1874-78 Mining from open-cut and shaft. 1894 Some diamond drilling. The development consists of a working shaft about 65 feet in depth which is well timbered. The machinery consists of a boiler of about 18 h.p. and steem hoist and a No. 5 Cameron pump, blacksmith's outfit and mining tools in general.

Dec 07, 2005 (G Bennett) - Veins of hematitic-specularite-quartz up to 5 feet wide and over a length of approx. 90 feet, within the Lorrain (quartzite) Formation.


Nov 08, 2006 (P Beach) - Veins of hematite specularite quartz up to 5 feet wide over a length of approximately 90 feet in Lorrain quartzite.

Site Visit Information

Date: Aug 16, 1999

Geologist: G Bennett

Notes: The vein outcrops for a distance of about 200 feet, its course being about east and west; in width from 3 to 5 feet. Should the vein cross the property its length would be about 2 200 feet. It is so covered with surface drift, that it has only been determined for about a distance of 500 feet in length. It carries a large amount Chalcopyrite, Chalcocyte, and Bornite ore.
