Lithology Comments

Jun 25, 2010 (A Wilson) - The occurrence is described as occurring within a fine-grained felsitic rock (quartz diorite) that intrudes the Gowganda Fm. The bedrock trends 110° to the NW have been brecciated by an east-west trending fault. The quartz diorite has been brecciated and cemented by carbonates and quartz.

Mineralization Comments

Jun 25, 2010 (A Wilson) - In 1956, Sylvanite estimated that the showing measured 150 in width and 30-40 feet in length (east-west direction). The chalcopyrite occurs as disseminated blebs in the quartz and carbonate cement, as well as within the brecciated host rock. Grab samples of this material reportedly returned values ranging from 2.0% - 5.5% Cu (Bruce Presto Mines Ltd.). Bruce Presto tested the ore zone with 11 vertical drill holes 200 feet deep drilled on a grid of 50 foot centres. The breccia zone has a width of 80-100 feet true width and averaged about 0.25% Cu. The quartz-carbonate brecciated and altered rock was found to be widespread and extensive mineralized by minor amounts of chalcopyrite and pyrite. Although numerous ore-grade intersections in the same zone were obtained, these could not be correlated and are considered to be small pods of better grade material in a very low-grade mineralized zone. Typical assays from the Bruce Presto drilling returned values ranging from 0.03 to 2.53% Cu over 5 feet. The quartz diabase and quartzite fragments are mineralized, and the chalcopyrite occurs are plates and veinlets within the fragments. Chip samples collected by C. Huston in 1949 averaged 1.29% Cu. The best gold values from these chip samples returned 0.005 and 0.01 oz/t gold.
