Marie Mining Division, Province of Ontario, and is 8 miles northwest of he town of Blind River. This property is accessible from Blind River by a gravel Rd. which passes over the southwest corner of the property. Blind River is situated on the North channel of Lake Huron; the Sudbury-Sault branch of the Canadian Pacific Railway and the Trans-Canada Hwy No.17 serve the town. Two high ridges seperated by a 300 foot to 400 foot wide northeasterly trending canyon are the prominent topographic features of the western half of the property. In the eastern half of he group a northwesterly striking valley cuts through the high ridges. There are fairly good stands of pine, spruce, balsam and poplar on the unpatented land claims. A supply of water is available at the Marsh River about 1/2 a claim south of the property, Bay lake on the northern boundary and a small lake on the eastern boundary. A transmission line of the Hydro Electric Power Commission of Onatrio passes 300 feet south of the property. The closest railroad station with sidings is Blind River.

Province: Southern
Subprovince: Cobalt Basin
Supergroup: Huronian Supergroup
Geological Age: Paleoproterozoic
Dec 07, 2005 (G Bennett) - The geology of the Patton area in the vicinty of Patton Twp may be grouped into three main lithologic series. These three are from the oldest to the youngest: (1) Batholic intrusives, Sediments, and Schist Complex. (2) Huronian sediments, namely, quartzites, quartz conglomerate, boulder conglomerate, conglomerate, greywacke, argillite and limestone lying unconformably on the Huronian basement or Keweenawan basic intrusives, dykes, sills, etc., breaking through. (3) Unconsolidated Pleistocene and recent deposits of glagial material, lake beds, stream sediments. etc., which lie upon the older groups. Most of the rocks outcropping on the Horlac claims are part of a Keweenawan basic intrusive which occurs in the southeast corner of Patton Twp. The intrusive varies from gabbro to quartz diabase to a more granitic red rock. Southwest of this intrusive the predominant rocks are Huronian Greywacke, argillite and a slate which is probably intermediate between greywacke and argillite or else a metamorphic product of the argillite. These rocks are intruded by sills related to the Keweenawan basic stucture. On the south boundary of the property occurs a small boss of fine grained red coloured, to coarse grained grey coloured, granite which is probably pre-Huronian in age.
Dec 07, 2005 (P Beach) - Quartz chalcopyrite veins cut Gowganda sediments, strike N70-85W, but dip is not recorded.
