Geology

Province: Southern

Subprovince: Cobalt Basin

Supergroup: Huronian Supergroup

Geological Age: Paleoproterozoic

Geology Comments

Apr 25, 2013 (A Wilson) - The property is comprised of an approximately east-west trending folded anticlinal sequence of conformable Huronian Supergroup sediments over the northern and western part of the claims and intrusive Nipissing Diabase at the south and southeast, It is bound to the north by the east-west trending Flack Lake Fault, which crosses the northwest corner of the claims, and to the south by the Le Scarbo Lake Fault, major components of the areal Flack Lake Fault System.

Lithology Comments

Apr 25, 2013 (A Wilson) - The drill holes intersected a sequence of silicified Espanola limestone rich in chlorite with minor brecciation. Beds of limestone rich in magnetite and chlorite approximately 3 m in width were observed both north and south of the mineralized zone. The mineralized shear zone strikes N65E and dips 65ºS in the Espanola Formation. A series of narrow quartz-carbonate stringers and veinlets are found within the shear zone. Grab samples collected by Chataway in 1986 returned copper values ranging from 0.46% to 7.84%; Ag values ranging from 0.01 oz/t to 0.25 oz/t; Au values ranging from nil to 0.025 oz/t and zinc values ranging from 0.005% to 0.01% Zn. All lead assays returned null. Chip sampling of the main showing by United Reef returned 5.233% Cu over 23 feet and contains a 13 ft section that returned 8.761% Cu, 0.019 oz/t Au

Mineralization Comments

Apr 25, 2013 (A Wilson) - Chalcopyrite, chalcocite, malachite, azurite and pyrrhotite mineralization is contained by a series of narrow white to grey quartz ± carbonate veins trending 070 all hosted by a chloritic shear zone. Specularite, magnetite and hematite are also identified in vein material. Copper mineralization extends into the host schist proximal to the veining. A 2.5 ft section of core (57.5-60 ft) from Fort Norman DDH 74-1 assayed 1.74% Cu in chert and laminated siltstone. A 5 ft section of core from between 63 and 68 ft in the same drill hole assayed 1.35% Cu. Chalcopyrite occurs as a replacement along fractures and as massive blebs associated with quartz carbonate and chlorite. Mineralization is hosted within a shear approximately 300 m north of the Nipissing diabase. Grab samples collected by the OGS assayed trace Au and Ag, 0.68% Cu, 1.29% Cu and 5.35% Cu. One sample contained 0.09% Co. Chip sampling of the main zone by United Reefs Petroleum returned an assay of 5.2% Cu over 23 feet, including a 13 foot section that assayed 8.76% Cu and 0.019 oz/t Au. Grab samples collected along strike of the main zone have returned anomalous values for a distance of approximately 1500 m. Grab samples collected by A. Roy in 1986 returned Cu values ranging from 3.97% to 7.84% over 4 feet and Ag values ranging from 0.15 oz/t to 0.25 oz/t over 4 feet. Gold and zinc values were low. A 1.8 m long channel sample assayed 0.025 oz/t Au, 11.7% Cu, 0.002% Pb and 0.009% Zn.
