Lithology Comments

Apr 25, 2013 (A Wilson) - The property geology consists of a fine grained to medium grained greyish white to pink coloured quartzite and a quartz jasper pebble conglomerate of the Bruce Formation. A laminated to massive siltstone and mudstone of the Gowganda formation was also mapped. Intruding these rocks is a dike of Nipissing diabase. The Pearl Lake Fault Zone cuts through the centre of the property. As a result, the rocks are sheared, brecciated and injected with carbonate- specularite-bearing quartz veins.

Mineralization Comments

Apr 25, 2013 (A Wilson) - Grab samples collected from a 1600 ft long zone in 1946 (?) assayed between 61.79% and 68.24% Fe. The zone reportedly ranged from 8 to 100 feet in width. High grade specimens of specular hematite were taken from all the stripped areas. The specimens exhibited a brilliant metallic luster with little silica content. Also various samples revealed evidence of rosette plating, perhaps better known as Iron roses. Assays of the high grade specular hematite samples returned values as high as 67.05% Iron and 95.7% Iron oxide, sample #4336. The Stringer Lake hematite mineralization exhibits a brilliant metallic luster with little evident silica. When a sample is ground to a powder in a pestle and mortar, it changes to a reddish brown colour. Its particle shape can be described as platy. When a sample is observed using a polarizing microscope, the thin grains exhibits a bright red colour. When a hand held magnet is placed near the sample, no magnetic response is observed.
