Access Description: South shore of Weashkog Lake, 3.5 kilometres west from the east boundary of Jarvis Township.



Exploration History

Work was begun at the Victoria Mine in 1875 to 1885. Inclined shaft sunk 410 feet; total of 1057 feet of lateral development at 50, 100, 150, 210, 237, 265 and 410 foot levels. In 1878 this project was taken over by the Victoria Consolidated Silver Mining Company Limited. Some ore was mined about 900 tons of hand-cobbed material was shipped. In 1884 work ceased. In june 1951 Corena Ores Limieted acquired an option on the 11 patented cliams and began dewatering the Victoria shaft. 1951-1957 property acquired and operated by Jardun Mines Ltd. No.4 shaft sunk to a depth of 374 feet, total of 2128 feet of lateral development and raising; 3 lvels, at depths of 125, 225 and 350 feet. In 1954 company built a 250 tons/day mill, which operated 1954-1957. Tonnage milled reported as 130, 536 tons or 145, 029 tons. Total production valued at $2, 634, 476. No. 4 zone, which was discovered in 1951, consists of a mineralized basic dike with heavey mineralization across a few feet, over a length of 400 feet. Operations ceased in August, 1956.

Geology Comments

Nov 23, 2006 (A Pace) - No. 4 xone, which was discovered in 1951, consists of a mineralized basic kike with heavey mineralizationa cross a few feet, over a length of 400 feet. Four major ore zones known, all occurring in or near a fault zone striking N15W between Weaskhop Lake and the south border of teh twonship. Most recent mining operations were carried out from No. 4 and No.5 shafts, located ion the sourth shore of Weaskhog Lake. No. 4 zone, at teh site of No. 4 sjaft, strikes N60W and dips 70S. It was 600 feeet long on surface and had an average width of 3 to 6 feet, and was mined to a depth of 350 feet.
