Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (P Beach) - Quartz sulphide vein along diabase - granite contact. The vein strikes N55W and dips 70 N. The vein has been traced along strike for 50 feet and mineralized float found on strike for 400 feet W. Channel samples across 5 feet of the vein are reported to have averaged 2.1% Cu (File SSM-30). Subsequent drilling encountered only sparse chalcopyrite. (ODM 1969 MRC 12 P 24-25).

Notes: The Janose property is accessed by road from Hwy 546 via the Whitman Dam road E 10.4 km to a logging road, then W for 2 km. An adit and trenches are located 150 metres S of the road at this point. A GPS reading taken at the adit portal provided the following UTM coordinates: Zone 17 728400 E, 5191580 N. From the size of the muck pile it is estimated that 2, 8 foot rounds were removed from the adit giving the adit a 16 foot depth trending SW. The portal is approx. 2m x 2m. Three 2-5m long trenches cut across exposed qtz veining, approximately 25m SE of the adit. The geology of this area has been previously described by Burton(1921) as granitic gneiss. The occurrence is located on the NE flank of a diabase dike cutting Archean xenolithic granite containing elongated blocks of amphibolite schist. A set of vertically dipping, crack and seal, sinuous quartz veins are hosted within a 1400 trending 3m wide shear zone. The veins contain disseminated pyrite and chalcopyrite as 1-2 cm patches. Rose-colored calcite veins were noted cross cutting a flat lying qtz veins in the brow of the adit portal. Grab samples from qtz veins on the E and W wall of the adit portal gave the following assay results; >5000 ppm Cu, 143 ppm Ba, 59 ppm Cr, 118 ppm Zn and >5000 ppm Cu, 195 ppm Ba respectively (OG 1998). From the main trench located 25 meters SE of the adit a grab sample of quartz vein material gave the following assay; >5000 ppm Cu and 127 ppm Ba (OGS 1998). (OGS 1999 OFR 5990 p 14-15, additional information from this publication is not included here because of 2000 character limit).
