In 1903, the Tecumseh Copper Company of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich, president H. Schurman and secretary M.T McDonald are beginning operations at Goulais Bay. Information obtained from the officers of the company is to the effect that a contract has been let to sink a shaft, 6 by 11, to a depth of 50 feet. The property consists of the southwest quarter of section 14, township of Van Koughnet. Camps are being built. The ore is said to possess value in both copper and gold. The old shaft was sunk for gold and copper on an east-west band of steeply dipping graphitic schist in a sequence of basic flows. In 1971, there were 3 diamond drill holes completed by Airnorth Mines Ltd., with total footage of 711.5 feet. In 1972, geophysical, geological surveys and soil sampling was completed by Geophysical Engineering and Surveys Ltd. for R. J. Wright and W. Doughty. In 1973, 42 diamond drill holes were completed by Tribag Mining Co. Ltd. Tribag Mining Co. Ltd. estimated 250, 000 tons of 2.35% copper reserves in three zones (Canadian Miningn Journal, July 1973, p.25).

Geological Age: Archean
Jun 23, 2011 (A Pace) - The property consists of an east-west band of steeply dipping graphitic schist in a sequence of basic flows. Coarse grained andesite is part of a narrow belt of undifferentiated Archean metavolcanics trending North-Northeast and appears to be closely paralleled by a major shear zone characterized by graphitic schists and shears and dipping Northe at 65 degrees. The metavolcanic belt is characterized by basic to intermediate volcanics which are very fine grained, and massive, generally have a high degree of chloritic and epidote alteration and a grey green colour, some local areas are slightly foliated and others characterized by a darker, massive basaltic nature. The metavolcanic belt has been intruded by fine to medium grained, fresh diabase.

Jun 23, 2011 (A Pace) - The mineralization was observed in coarse grained andesite units but drill core from the Airnorth drilling program indicated several weakly mineralized zones in 0.4% Cu range within fine grained metavolcanics. The chalcopyrite of the surface showing is finely disseminated in the coarse grained andesite as well as occurring along with quartz and carbonate along a series of fractures or joints in the andesite. Grab samples from the various trenched showings indicate grades varying from 0.80% copper to 1.50% copper. Results from the Tribag Mining Co. Ltd., in 1973 range from 0.12% Cu to 17% Cu and Silver values range up to as high as 52.5 oz/ton Ag.
