Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (P Beach) - Radioactivity in brecciated Keweenawan dike which cuts Early Precambrian granitic gneiss. The dike trends NW and dips steeply NE. The dike, 4 feet wide, is cut by the Keenan fault, which caused brecciation over a length of about 300 feet and the entire width of the dike. The brcciated zone is highly radioactive with the footwall contact giving the highest readings. (OGS 1983 MDC 25 P 34).

Date: Sep 07, 1999

Geologist: G Bennett

Notes: One favourable zone of uranium mineralization occurs on the property and is associated with a four foot dyke that had been disturbed and shattered by the Keenan Fault. The zone is highly radioactive and has a length in excess of 300 feet. Along almost the total length of the zone only the foot wall is visible as the dyke itself is covered by overburden but even with this mantle of overburden present the Geiger counter indication was quite distinct. The foot wall contact of the northwest dike just north of Traverse 'P' on the east boundary of claim SSM 17139 was also strongly radioactive but no work was carried out here. A sample from this zone assayed 0.07% U3O8
