Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The property is underlain by olivine gabbro, olivine, norite, gabbro, norite and pyroxene diorite of the Gamitagama Lake Complex, but biotite-hornblende diorite, tonalite, syenodiorite, trondhjemite, granodiorite and monzonite of the complex, and hornfelsed mafic metavolcanic and metasedimentary country rocks are also present. THe veins are in the contact metamorphic aureole of the Gamitagama Lake Complex. The Gamitagama Lake Fault hosts the veins of the occurrence.

Granodiorite 2 Near

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The veins lie in the contact metamorphic aureole of the Gamitagama Lake Complex. Mafic metavolcanic rocks are metamorphosed to the upper part of the hornblende hornfels facies are intruded by small masses of tonalite and granodiorite. Several hundred feet of displacement have occurred along the east-trending Gamitagama Lake Fault.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - A quartz vein fills an easterly-trending brecciated zone within the Gamitagama Lake Fault. The vein pinches and swells along its length. Five grab samples were collected from the vein by the ODM in 1957. They assayed: 2.64% Cu, 0.38% Cu, 0.1% Cu, 0.06% Cu and 0.08% Cu. All samples returned trace to nil gold. The best analyses came from samples taken near the No. 1 shaft (easternmost shaft).
