Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The area around Vein Bay is cut by a number of pyritic quartz veins. These veins vary in width from 10 cm to 1.5 m and trend N60-70 W, parallel to the general trend of the faulting in the area. The veining is most pronounced within the rocks of the Carolynne Lake Gabbro complex (local name). The upper quartz gabbro or graonphyric phases of the intrusion appear to host the greatest number of veins. Although best exposed at Vein Bay, these veins are found all along the coast from Dyke Cove to Chimney Point.
