Point Location Description: Shaft on the west side of Surluga Road approximately 500 m south of the Deep Lake Road
Location Method: Field Visit with GPS
Access Description: Drive south along the Surluga Road for approximately 5.5 km from highway 101. The shaft is located alongside the road on the west side.
1898: A. B. Blackinton and W. H. Lewis - staking 1898-1900: Edey Gold Mining Company - stripping, pitting, 33 foot shaft sunk in 1900. 1902-1903?: Mariposa Gold Mining Company - 208 foot shaft with levels at 100 and 200 feet. 1980: Dunraine Gold Mines - 1 ddh (255 ft). 1987-1991: Citadel Gold Mines Ltd. - stripping, mapping, sampling.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The occurrence consists of several quartz veins within the Jubilee tuffs, adjacent to the NNW trending Parkhill Fault. The Jubilee tuffs are andesitic to dacitic in composition and are a locally significant stratigraphic unit. They occupy a position between mafic and intermediate and intermediate to felsic metavolcanics of the second volcanic cycle. The veins have a strike parallel to the Parkhill Fault and may occupy a prominent structural trend parallel to the fault.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The tuff breccia contains fragments up to 35 cm in diameter. The majority of the fragments appear to be dioritic in compisition and are probably related to the Jubilee stock. Fragments of iron formation or sulphide-rich clasts are apparent west of the shaft. The matrix is a crystal tuff.

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Gold assays average between nil and 0.04 oz/t Au. Some spectacular examples of visible gold have been collected from this vein.
