Geology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The Hornblend shear zone is considered to be a splay structure below and west of the main Jubilee Shear Zone. It has been mined both at the mineral occurrence and on the seventh level of the Surluga Gold Mine.

Lithology Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - The shear is poorly defined on a steep cliff face on the south side of Hornblende Lake. Wall rocks include the diorite of the Jubilee Lake Stock and the crystal tuffs of the Jubilee Tuff. The diorite in the vicinity of the vein has been sheared and shows replacement by biotite and tourmaline. The occurrence consists of a broad zone of strong foliation, sharing and mylonitization which can be followed northeasterwards across Mackey Point.

Mineralization Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Some visible gold has been observed in the quartz vein. The best assay attributable to this occurrence is 0.120 oz/t Au.

Alteration Comments

Dec 07, 2005 (A Wilson) - Silicification is found in both the matrix of the hostr ock as well as in the form of abundant stringers and veinlets.
